A bar that could carry anyone’s brand

Divine wanted to offer corporate customers something more personal than a standard bar: chocolate wrapped in a sleeve carrying their own branding, ready for client gifts, events and giveaways. The starting point was the brand world created by Wildish & Co, with a wide colour palette, the arch, flourishes and diamond shapes, and two typefaces to work from.

Different, but the same

The brief came down to one question: how do you make something look different, but the same? The sleeves needed to stand apart from the wrappers underneath, so a gifted bar caught the eye, while still feeling unmistakably Divine. On top of that, they would be customised online by people who aren’t designers, with their own logo, colours and message, so every template had to hold up whatever went into it.

The same shapes, used differently

The work started with play. Divine’s arches, flourishes, diamonds, colours and fonts were all in, but pushed further than the wrappers take them: stretched, stacked and moved away from their usual positions to see what felt new. More than four versions came out of it. The ones that were too playful or too word heavy didn’t feel like Divine and were dropped, leaving a handful of minimal designs with room to flex around someone else’s brand.

Built to be made your own

Four templates, one brand world

One pairs a bold headline with flourishes above and an arch breaking off the bottom of the page. Another turns the arches on their side, coming in from left and right like bricks, a very different shape from how they usually appear. The third layers the arch into a rainbow of colour, with the message broken across each layer. The fourth sets Wildish & Co’s cocoa farm illustration behind three diamonds that carry the customer’s own words.

A back panel for the message

The fronts flex between four looks, but the backs stay constant: one white panel for a headline, subheading, short paragraph, logo and QR code, so a company can explain why they’re worth knowing to whoever’s holding the bar. Goodness by Design’s own sleeve uses it for a short note about backing brands that do things the right way.

Made to work without a designer

Logos always sit on white, so even a basic JPEG works, and each template comes in portrait and landscape with a range of colour palettes. Getting it all working through Divine’s online ordering meant working closely with the Divine team and developers, and the final designs are shaped by that collaboration.
